Why India celebrates July 1 (National Doctors day)

Globally all countries struggling due to pandemics (Covid-19) during 2020&2021, this is the right time to remember the service full of devotion and dedication. they are at the forefront of the fight against the virus and protect human lives. 

India lost more than 1500 doctors due to the COVID-19 and remember their invaluable sacrifices. Very recently Dr. K K Agarwal (Former president of the Indian Medical Association) also succumbed to the dangerous virus. All the doctors and health care professionals have made relentless efforts towards improving the public health status of the country. Across the country, all categories of staff stayed extremely motivated and supported. 

Towards the same professional mix of talent and hard work, love of his motherland who served as a physician and Internationally renowned medical practitioner Dr. B C Roy (Bidan Chandra Roy) born in Patna Bengal presidency, British India, in 1882. The man after 30 attempts finally approved his admission to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London. become a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). 

His return from London, He joined the independence movement, finally, he joined politics in 1925 served as a 2nd chief Minister of West Bengal. he was known to be one of the Mahatma Gandhi's personal physicians and he is a good friend to Mahatma. 

India honored Dr. B C Roy with Bharat Ratna in 1961, and he passed away on his 80th birthday on July 1, 1962. The British Medical Journal, in its obituary of Dr. B C Roy, called him the first Medical Consultant in the subcontinent of the Country.
